Some photos of activities on site during January and February 2017.

Tank from Peckett 'Pectin' is currently being overhauled. After wire brushing, several holes have made themselves known. This will have to be cut out and new metal welded.

The rear buffers from 'Pectin' have been removed for overhaul....

....and the reach will be extended using wooden blocks. This will enable a closer connection to the coach/brakevan buffers when running.

Andrew Barclay 'Lord Fisher' has to be re-tubed during the winter maintenance period. Pictures inside the smokebox show that some have been removed and a few more in course of being removed. A hard job.

The work may delay the return to steam for a short time.

All tubes removed and now drying out the boiler barrel of last remaining water.

21 February 2017
Unfortunately, more work is needed on 'Lord Fisher' and the tank has now been removed.

We have been fortunate to acquire some children's play equipment. This is the first to arrive with more to follow.

Now in undercoat following weather proofing and priming.

5 February 2017 - beginning to look colourful!

On-going sleeper replacement!

21 February 2017. A recently started task is a overhaul of the SR design brakevan (actually built for the War Department). The main chassis (and inside wood) is in a fair condition and is unlikely to require major work. However the outside wood and other metal is another story!

The vacuum brake cylinders sit on the verandah at this end but have been removed temporarily.

This is a Ducket (or Guards lookout). Attached to the side of a brakevan (or other vehicle) it enables the guard to see along the train without risking his head coming into contact with bridges etc (also keeps it dry!). This one has the bottom edge rotted so a new piece of metal is to be attached.
