During the time Westbury Station area was closed for remodelling, Great Western Railway, ran the Barnstaple to Axminster unit empty to Yeovil Junction. There it attached to a South Western Railway empty stock, running onto Salisbury. Later a return empty from Salisbury to Exeter St Davids ran, enabling the unit to be serviced at Exeter rather than Westbury. Seen at Yeovil Junction on 14 January 2025. Not so much a special train, but the current scene at Exmouth Junction where the former steam shed, concrete works and latterly a coal concentration depot is being redeveloped. A couple of short sidings remain for GWR units to reverse and for Engineering vehicles (Photo courtesy Dave Tozer).
