The first Cathedrals Express (Steam Dreams) to run to Exeter out and back via the Southern Route ran on Sunday 6 July 2003. ![]() The train started from Clapham Junction and ran steam hauled to Exeter. The engine used was Standard 73096 and is seen arriving at Yeovil Junction. ![]() The train departs having taken water. ![]() Soon after, Deltic 9016 Gordon Highlander arrived at Platform 3 for a planned layover to allow a South West Trains service to overtake. ![]() ![]() (Photo courtesy Bob Tucker) ![]() (Photo courtesy Bob Tucker) ![]() A normal Train Day was also operated using Peckett 'Pectin'and GWR Toad brakevan. We were pleased to welcome back our good friends from 6000 Loco Association for their annual visit. ![]() The Deltic made its way to Platform 2, ready for departure to Exeter to pick up the train. ![]() 73096 made its way back light engine from Exeter and is seen after watering and turning. ![]() 73096 at Platform 3. Steam was re-attached and took the excursion back to Clapham Junction. |
