7 May 2016 D1015 `Western Champion` Hauling Pathfinder Railtours 'The Western Challenger' tour ,London Paddington - Plymouth & Okehampton. Then Okehampton - London Waterloo under the names of D1010 `Western Campaigner` on one side and D1058 `Western Nobleman` on the other side. On the exact same day in 1966, Ian Allan ran a non-stop special from Paddington to Penzance, D1010 Western Campaigner hauled the charter the journey took 5 hours and 15 mins. It returned to Plymouth where Warship D823 Hermes took over and ran over the Southern Railway's 'Withered Arm' route (Plymouth-Tavistock-Okehampton-Exeter line) and onward to London Waterloo. |
