In this view taken on 9 June, work has begun on provision of new location cabinets in connection with the re-signalling scheme due for commission in April 2012. The machines in the background are being used to recover track replaced earlier in the year. |
Repairs and enhancements to the recently purchased elevator are taking place. This will enable (we hope!) coaling of main line steam to be carried out in a better fashion. |
A three phase supply is being installed for the elevator. |
A new area for storing the coal is being constructed. |
A photo showing how daylight has returned to the Engine Shed! Over the years the perspex rooflights have blackened and curled in the sun. Replacement fibreglass panels have been installed by Ron W and John B aided by a new form of fixing developed by John M. The whole replacement was carried out in just 3 days - quite remarkable! Other crafty innovations meant that work could be done safely from inside the Shed. |
21 June 2011 - Laying concrete in the new area for storing the coal. |
Not much action here!! |
Last (half) dumper load about to be delivered. |
26 June 2011 - An inspection of the turntable reveal the casting (and huge nuts!) containing the central bearing. |
