15 August 2012 Certainly one, if not the busiest, day for main line steam movements involving three different engines. All were in connection with Weymouth Carnival Day. The rain gods had decided to throw all the water down during the morning to ensure the Carnival enjoyed a dry afternoon. |

Sparkford. Note the newly relaid track. Unfortunately loco-hauled traffic is still restricted to 40mph although other stock can now travel at 75mph from Castle Cary to Yeovil Pen Mill. South of there the speed for all traffic remains at 40mph. (Photo courtesy Bob Tucker) |

'Bittern' was detached from the train at Yeovil Pen Mill and run to the Junction.... |

A spin on the turntable.... |
....and a rest over the pit. |
At about 18.50, 'Bittern' reversed out of the Centre ready to run down to Yeovil Pen Mill and resume its place at the head of the return excursion. |
