September 2014
A look at some of the on-going work.

Transfer Shed. In last winter's gales a few of the edge slates covering the Shedmaster's Office (part of the Great Western Railway 1864 built Transfer Shed) had blown off. Others had slipped or been supported over the years as their fixing nails had given out. A project, initially on the south (worst) side, to tidy things up has been carried out.

After the modern tin ridge was removed the wooden ridge can be seen. Fortunately all wood was found to be in good condition.

Remains of some of the original zinc ridge plates. Fixing nails were also zinc but had corroded.

Simon removes the first tile.

The roof is boarded and the tiles are directly nailed - no battens.

Tiles off.

Later the roof was re-tiled, fit for another winter or two!

Flowers on the platform.

Signboard on the platform is being renovated.

What was the wood store has been emptied in readiness for an alternative use.

A Lattice Post signal is being prepared for re-use.

Slowly but surely the donated telephone box is being brought back to top condition.

Not in use yet, but on site is a surface grinder.

Coach - Storage heaters are being installed to give some warmth to visitors and volunteers during the colder months.

Coach - Driver's seat and brake setter. A successful vacuum brake test has been carried out.
