UK Railtours ran an excursion 'Herd of Wildebeest' from Waterloo-Paignton via Yeovil Jct and return via Taunton. Train actually started from Basingstoke due to the very late arrival of empty stock from Eastleigh.

Train through Yeovil consisted of 73962, 73963, 12 coaches, 73107, 73128. A quite remarkable sight!

Yeovil Show was revived this weekend and sponsored by South West Trains. The company ran a shuttle service on both days (Class 158 unit) from Yeovil Pen Mill to Junction and thence to showground via a South West Trains liveried coach (run by Go Ahead).Difficult to see but all four platform lines in use.

Platform 1 - 2V42 Yeovil Junction to Yeovil Pen Mill - departed 1345¼
Platform 2 - 1Z29 Salisbury to Exeter St Davids (replacement for 1L29 held at Whitchurch) - arrived 1345½
Platform 3 - 5Z22 stabled and waiting to depart at 1412 to Platform 2 (actual departure 1359)
Platform 4 - Clifton Maybank Rambler waiting to depart at 1350 with Andrew Barclay 'Lord Fisher'.(Photo courtesy Tony Reese)

An interesting move which caused some interest - the 158 unit stabled at Platform 3 was shunted up the down line (Shunt signal showed 'X') whilst a 159 unit approached from Yeovil Pen Mill (formed of the Weymouth summer Saturday excursion stock). A perfectly legitimate move made at walking pace!(Photo courtesy Tony Reese)
