Railway Touring Company ran a 'Sherborne Christmas Carol' train from London Victoria to Sherborne and terminating at Yeovil Junction.

For some reason, a vacuum could not be created between the engine and the turntable so its was all hands to the wheel/bar/anything else! A round of applause ensued from the gallery!

Ready for departure - probably not quite as dark as the photo suggests! The shunt signal at ground level shows 'UE' indicating the Up Exeter line.




The evening departure back to London Victoria is seen from Back Lane Bridge, Bradford Abbas. The load was a substantial 11 coaches plus POB (support coach).
