| 18 March - A special excursion was arranged from Okehampton to Paddington (and return) which was fully sold and was to show the potential for daily services to Okehampton. The HST ran into some difficulties when running from Okehampton to Exeter with severe wheelflats developing on the rear Power Car. The passengers were transferred to another HST set commandeered at Exeter St Davids. Here 43188 (leading) and 43194 (trailing with wheelflats) departs from Crediton.
