20 January 2006. A start has been made on renovating the canopy over Platforms 1 & 2 involving the renewal of cast iron rainwater channels which form part of the structure. Later a repaint will be undertaken together with renewal of the bridge roof and other repairs.




Orange coats will be a feature for some months to come!!




A temporary new bridge has been erected in preparation for work to begin on the old.






New views to the west have been opened up from the temporary footbridge. This shows the 1864 built Transfer Shed and to the right the turntable and viewing area.




Also looking east showing Yeovil Railway Centre's engine shed and 50050 'Fearless'.




A very wet day shows a Class 170 in the sidings on crew training from Salisbury-Yeovil Junction via Yeovil Pen Mill whilst the 10.20 from Waterloo runs in with a pair of 159 units.




The colour light signals along the line have begun to be renewed as part of the signalling system life extension programme.
