25 October to 1 November 2020 saw work to renew the pointwork at Exmouth Junction (Exeter). Keeping the single lead junction, although the speed limit for Exmouth Branch trains will be raised from 25mph to 40mph.

Firstly a look back to the previous renewal in 1987/8 when track materials were brought in on bogie bolsters. Also note the old double lead junction onto the Exmouth branch and the busy yard with engineering and coal wagons. At that time there was a wagon repair workshop and a coal concentration depot on site.
