Cathedrals Express
Saturday 28 February 2004

Unfortunately this trip from London Victoria to Salisbury, Yeovil Junction, Yeovil Pen Mill and Weymouth ran very late on the down journey due to a problem on the engine at Overton. To make up time the diesel Class 47 was attached to the rear at Salisbury (instead of at Yeovil Junction). After arriving at Platform 3, the steam loco was detached and the train left immediately for Pen Mill with passengers being asked to stay on board. We hope that they will come back to see us on another occasion!! The return trip left Yeovil almost on time.

Prior to the arrival of the delayed excursion, the resident Ruston gave brake van rides.

The train returns from Weymouth. 73096 hauled it to Yeovil Pen Mill and 47703 to Yeovil Junction. The plume of steam indicates 73096 on the rear of the train.
