28 March 2004 Model Railway Exhibition

The first Model Railway Exhibition was held in the Transfer Shed with 10 exhibitors and 2 vendors (Hendford Halt , Yeovil - Peter Farr and Buffers Model Railways Ltd, Colston Cross, Axminster). The day was a great success with around 250 visitors and a test for the newly commissioned kitchen area which was only ready the evening before! The following photos give some idea of what was on show but the quality needs to be seen to be believed. Not all displays are seen here and also thanks to Blackmore Vale N Gauge Modellers for their scenery making demonstration.

Three views of Weymouth Model Railway Association's 'Yeovil Pen Mill' representing an early British Railways scene. This was the first outing for this layout which is still under construction.

This is 'Ennyville' shown by South Western Counties N Gauge Area Group and behind is Mr & Mrs Hillyar's 'Winsor Hill'.

A static display in more way than one. Models on loan from Aiden Clotworthy. Our Chairman takes a break......

'Nostalgia' by John Harwood with Hornby vintage trains from 1930s.

'Shillingford' N gauge layout operated by Shaftesbury & Gillingham Railway Society influenced by the Somerset & Dorset line.

Yeovil Model Railway Group displayed their 'Gas Works' layout.

A general view of the new kitchen area with the Treasurer checking when he is likely to get his next cuppa!

Yeovil Railway Centre would like to thank all the exhibitors and traders who contributed so much to make the day so enjoyable for the visitors. We certainly intend to repeat the show!
