The area around Yeovil Junction Station has been resembling a building site recently. The installation of a replacement water main is coming to an end, whilst work on a large extension to the car park is just getting under way.




A replacement water main has been put in the approach road, causing annoyance to drivers and also those who cannot find a space in the car park and have found they cannot leave their cars in the usual alternative!




Help is at hand however. 16 June 2008 sees a last view of the old upside sidings before the workmen arrive.

....Dyer & Butler to enlarge the car park and re-model the existing in a contract booked to last around 2 months.




10 July Buffer stops have been removed. Thanks to the kind help of South West Trains, Network Rail and Dyer & Butler the rails, fittings and buffer stops were removed for future reuse at Yeovil Railway Centre. The rails are very old (1903 has been seen) but are quite suitable for sidings.

The longer rails could not be moved with the lorry and had to be stored temporarily.
