Pathfinder Railtours excursion from Yeovil Junction to Holyhead 1 June 2002

After the Class 47 booked to take the excursion had failed on arrival at Yeovil Junction with the empty stock the previous night, 47635 was provided by Bristol, Barton Hill. Seen attaching to the coaching stock at around 05.10 am.

Stock was then pushed back clear of the points on Platform 3. Two 159 units are on the way to Honiton & Exeter St Davids to form up services.

A long train of 13 Mark I coaches. Later increased to 14 when Peak 'Ixion' and support coach replaced the '47' at Crewe.

The train snakes its way across the pointwork to take the Pen Mill branch to the left of the signalbox.

Return was only about 10 minutes behind schedule. On the Sunday, volunteers from Yeovil Railway Centre serviced and cleaned the coaching stock. The train then left at 13.20 for Bristol in readiness to work another charter on Bank Holiday Monday.
