Thank you for your e-mail, we did get through on a phone line & was able to take the grand children yesterday on the `Santa Special` which we all enjoyed including a visit to santa up the chimney!!! The snowfall & bubbles was a huge success, we all enjoyed a lovely hot chocolate and delicious mince pie. The staff were in full christmas spirit which made us feel like children again enjoying the magic of it all. Thank you so much for a lovely day.

Some comments following our first Santa Special for 2013 held on Sunday 8 December
a)Worth every penny. Train ride, meeting santa, drink and mince pie all in the price. We were there about an hour and a half in the grotto. Things to buy, and a miniature railway as well
b)My family and I would like to thank your volunteers for a lovely time today on the Santa Special. We all enjoyed the train ride but it was the reception afterward that was most enjoyable; the foam snow and bubbles were a hit with all of our children (ages 7 months - 13 years) and the grown ups!......It is evident that you all put so much of your time and energy into organising this super event. It was so personal; unlike the commercial grotto's in shopping centres where time is limited and they operate a conveyer belt system......
c)we went yesterday and it was brilliant. the kids loved it and there was loads for them to do

The Santa Specials at the Yeovil Railway Centre are an enjoyable experience for everyone from ages 1 to 100. You start your visit with a train ride behind one of our steam locomotives, we have a choice of a heritage carriage or a brake van (with a real coal fire) to ride in. Our track is about 1/3rd mile long, so the train ride is full of fun for the children but not long enough for them to get bored. Visitors then make their way to the ex GWR Transfer Shed, where Santa will be ready in his grotto. The cafe is also located inside the Transfer Shed, and your ticket entitles you to free tea, coffee or squash and a mince pie for the adults and biscuit for the children, just show the tickets at the cafe counter. We should have one or more model railway layouts running, and from the balcony in the Transfer Shed snow and bubble machines provide a truly exciting experience for the little ones. A selection of items from our shop will be available from tables in the Transfer Shed. Visits to view our full range of shop items are possible by asking one of the volunteers at the shop tables.

We take the safety of visitors very seriously. Parents/Grandparents/Guardians are asked to please keep your children with you at all times. Do not trespass on the railway and only cross our track on the designated board crossing. Please ensure your children take care when playing in the snow or bubble area!

We want you and your children to have a wonderful Santa experience with us. We appreciate all comments, good or bad, please feel free to make an entry in our visitors book. If any visitor wishes to raise any matters on the day, please do not hesitate to speak to one of our volunteers.


Booking Form and prices for Santa Specials 2017

*Our always (and increasingly) popular Santa Specials are to be held on 03 December (Sunday), 10 December (Sunday), 16 December (Saturday) 17 December (Sunday) and 23 December (Saturday) this year.

*Prices per person (adult or child) are 9.50 if pre-booked at least 24 hours in advance (9.00 per person for groups of 8 or more) and 12.00 per person for bookings received less than 24 hours in advance or on day (only if space is available-it is important for us to give time to the children during this special occasion. Please help us by booking as early as possible and there will be less chance of disappointment and save money at the same time!!).

There is a 1 booking fee per transaction for Card payments.

Babies under the age of 1 are not charged on the basis they will not receive a present from Santa. Please simply mention any young babies at the foot of the internet booking form. (However please bring a present along if you wish and Santa will be very pleased to give this).

*Trains run from 11am to 3pm (at 11am, 11.20am, 11.40am, 12noon, 2pm, 2.20pm, 2.40pm, and 3pm) - and if your preferred time cannot be met, you will be allocated the nearest available time which will be noted on the tickets sent in response to your booking.

*Your visit is likely to last around an hour and includes a steam train ride, seasonal refreshments and of course a visit to Santa's Grotto. The children will receive a carefully selected and appropriate gift. Other activities may also be available.

Our new automated booking service for Cards (includes payment via PayPal Logo - No PayPal account is required) is now available. This immediately confirms availability and delivers your tickets via email. Please either print or save the email on your mobile to show at the gate.
