On Thursday 18/4/2002 things started to go downhill. On the morning trip from Eastleigh, 35005 suffered a broken oil feeder pipe and was declared a failure at Gillingham. Fortunately, one of the support crew from Yeovil Railway Centre managed to contact another of our volunteers who immediately left work and picked up the necessary equipment to effect a repair. The engine and support coach subsequently ran to Yeovil for a rapid 35 minute service and turn before making a hurried departure for Gillingham to pick up the train. This picture shows the arrival at Yeovil.

The evening service 18/4/2002 ran perfectly having run from Salisbury only due to the late running of the morning train. Unfortunately the following day's morning train was cancelled following an operational problem at Eastleigh.
