Following on from some preparatory work in May 2015, the activities to complete the siting of the ex-Yeovil Pen Mill signal at Yeovil Railway Centre have started in earnest. Photos of the signal in its original position at Yeovil Pen Mill can be seen HERE . |
First you dig yourself into a hole! (Photo courtesy Brian Haigh) |
Then you place a metal sleeve (this is to help move the signal at a later date, if required) into the hole.... (Photo courtesy Brian Haigh) |
....and level it - in all directions.... (Photo courtesy Brian Haigh) |
....and fill the hole with concrete. |

By 25 June the post had been erected. Work then continued to fix it firmly and to seal the slot to repel water (although any getting inside will be able to run away). |
24 July 2015 On a very wet day, the wooden top of the post was lifted into position and secured by means of the original bracket to the concrete part of the post. |
Only two route indications currently remain ('M' for Main and 'Bch' for Branch) although until complete they are both showing behind one another. |
