This piece of equipment is used to remove the fishplate bolts (unless rusted!) removing the need for spanners (see head at rail level).




Seen in the down sidings.




Fishplates nicely greased, allowing rails to expand during hot weather. Other work is currently being carried out including reinstatement of an upside siding, replacement of sleepers and general upgrading (including overhaul of some shunting signals). It is understood that Class 159s will be stabled regularly at Yeovil Junction soon. On occasions 159s have been left at Yeovil but due to the influx of extra units to Salisbury depot, extra siding space is being made available, including Yeovil Junction and Salisbury East Sidings where some lines are being brought back into use.
