16 September 2012
Our second Model Railway Day for 2012 featured the large Gauge 1 Salisbury and Stonehenge Railway as well as a range of other layouts with the usual standard gauge steam train rides and a Miniature Railway. Our thanks, as always, go to all the exhibitors and volunteers who make this event work.

The day began with another of the ever-popular Driver Experience events. Please CLICK HERE for details.

A happy face is our aim! (Success!)

Use of the turntable is normally included - not many places offer this!

The Miniature Railway operated by our friends from Westland & Yeovil District Model Engineering Society.

Rides behind this miniature Traction Engine were on offer.

One of the turntable demonstrations (and commentary) featuring 'Pectin' in between the steam train rides.

Our catering team (or most of them) ready to provide refreshment.

Salisbury and Stonehenge Group CLICK HERE for more information, brought their 40ft x 20ft layout which was set up in the Engine Shed. All engines are live steam (apart from the 'Deltic') with one Bulleid even being coal fired. The size of the models allows a wealth of detail.

Photos follow of the other layouts set up in the Transfer Shed (Visitor Centre).

Our friends from 'Buffers' CLICK HERE provided trade support. Yeovil Railway Centre has a range of common items for sale in its Shop (Sundays 10am to noon and during events) and can arrange for other items to be ordered from Buffers and collected in Yeovil. Why not visit our Shop?

Someone took up the offer!

Live steam is seen on this 16mm gauge railway owned and operated by members of Westland and Yeovil District Model Engineering Society.

The Centre's own '00' layout is seen in the following photos. Normally open during our regular Steam Train Days and is a credit to those involved (although it will never be completed!).
