21 November 2007 Every 14 months, maximum, Pectin must be examined and passed fit by the Insurance Company's assessor. This involves some dismantling, much cleaning and a two stage inspection.
The first is a cold exam when the firebox and boiler are closely inspected to check for cracks, wastage etc and measurements taken of the various thicknesses for comparison with previous years. The engine is then put back together and a further check is made to see that all is well and that the safety valves work as designed. |
