Driver Experience events are often held prior to Steam Train Days (by prior booking CLICK HERE for details). Instruction - and exercise - is given in the use of the turntable, both via the vacuum motor or manual effort!

As part of the days, a talk is given to visitors, explaining how the turntable works.

Once the turntable is moved using the vacuum motor and power supplied by 'Pectin', it is the manual method that is used to return the turntable to its original position!(Picture courtesy Brian Haigh)

The Miniature Railway operated by our friends from Westland & Yeovil District Model Engineering Society, always forms an important part of the day giving rides at no extra charge.
