29 July 2006 saw a celebration at Yeovil Pen Mill to mark the 150th anniversary of its opening. The event was organised by a group of local people who gathered a small gathering of two Class 59 locomotives and a Prairie tank from West Somerset Railway. Also featured was a display of totems and targets from local stations and a number of trade stands.

The star exhibit was to have been 6024 King Edward I after running a railtour from Bristol. Due to a steam ban this tour ran top and tailed by EWS Class 67 locos. (Photo courtesy David Coombs) The booked bubblecar from SWT at Salisbury was unable to appear due to a cracked windscreen.
